Born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina, Cassie is a native of the area. She is the daughter of local small business owners, Daniel Sluder and Sandra Parham. Growing up in the environment of a small business Cassie knows firsthand the hard work and dedication that goes into operating a small business. Cassie believes her early exposure to her parents business has helped shape her career today.
Cassie attended Western Carolina University where she received her BSBA with a focus in accounting. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in May of 2005.
After acquiring her undergraduate degree Cassie attended Western Carolina’s Graduate School to get her Masters of Accountancy. She graduated in the fall of 2006. In September of 2008, after obtaining a year of experience in the field, she received her CPA certification (License #33893) in the State of North Carolina.
Cassie continued her career with David G. Worley, CPA, PA, working with many different small business owners providing tax preparation, tax planning, payroll preparation, bookkeeping, sales tax reporting, tax authority correspondence, small business startup consulting and general consulting services. She has extensive experience working with real estate professionals, investors, and owners in the medical and retail fields. In addition to working with small business owners Cassie has significant experience in working with individuals with both simple and complex tax returns. In 2013, after working with the firm for 5 years Cassie became a partner at David G. Worley, CPA, PA a firm which later became Worley, Woodbery, & Melton PA.
Cassie continued to work closely with clients providing tax preparation, planning and other consulting services.
In the summer of 2017 Cassie and long term colleague, Mandy Wakem founded their current firm Melton & Wakem, PC, where she provides tax planning, preparation and consulting services.
Cassie currently resides in Asheville, NC with her husband Jamin Melton, and their three children, Jaden, Jaxen, and Jasen. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and watching her boys play ball. She is a member of the West Buncombe Advisory Board and volunteers at the school in her spare time.
